Middle School Girls Forced to Ask Classmates for ‘Lesbian Kiss’ During Anti-Bullying Presentation

Imagine 13 and 14-year-old girls being instructed to ask one another for a lesbian kiss in a class exercise.  The girls had no choice. The parents were NOT informed. But hey, if it falls under “anti-bullying,” than who are you to question it, right?

Heather Clark over atreports this alarming development:

schoolRed Hook, New York – A recent anti-bullying presentation at a middle school in New York that focused on homosexuality and gender identity has angered parents after their daughters have come home to tell them they were forced to ask another girl for a kiss.

According to reports, the session occurred last week at Linden Avenue Middle School in Red Hook, New York, near Poughkeepsie. A group of students from Bard College led two workshops for the youth, separated by gender.

During the workshop for girls, the 13 and 14-year-olds were told to ask one another for a lesbian kiss. They were also taught words such as “pansexual” and “genderqueer.”

Parent Mandy Coon told reporters that her daughter was very uncomfortable with the exercise.

“She told me, ‘Mom, we all get teased and picked on enough; now I’m going to be called a lesbian because I had to ask another girl if I could kiss her,’” she lamented.

Coon stated that she was especially irate over the matter because parents were given no warning about the presentations, nor an opportunity to opt out. She is also dismayed that college students were granted the right to come into the classroom and encourage her daughter to be sexually active.

“I am furious,” she declared. “I am her parent. Where does anyone get the right to tell her that it’s okay for her to have sex?”

“The school is overstepping its bounds in not notifying parents first and giving us the choice,” another parent remarked. “I thought it was very inappropriate. That kind of instruction is best left up to the parents.”

According to reports, during the workshop for the adolescent boys, the students were counseled to keep a condom in their pocket at all times, and were taught how to identify a woman who is a “slut.”

“I was absolutely furious – really furious,” an anonymous parent told reporter Todd Starnes. “These are just kids. I’m dumbfounded that they found this class was appropriate.”

However, both the school principal and the district superintendent are defending the workshops, and are advising that they will schedule more. Superintendent Paul Finch told the Poughkeepsie Journal that the presentation was “focused on improving culture, relationships, communication and self-perceptions.”

“[We] may require more notification to parents” in the future, he said, contending that the sessions are required under the state Dignity for All Students Act, which prohibits harassment and bullying in the classroom.

He advised that Principal Katie Zahedi and guidance counselors at the school worked with the Bard students to plan the workshops. Zahedi asserts that the sessions were rather about saying no to unwanted advances as opposed to encouraging homosexual acts.

“In planning the discussion, we made it clear that absolutely no discussion of any sexual acts is appropriate to middle school, and they used the examples of a kiss,” she wrote in an online forum for parents. “It was a separate activity for boys and girls and ultimately about respect and safety.”

Mark Primoff, a spokesman for Bard College said that students had volunteered to give the presentation after Zehedi invited the institution of higher learning to participate in the workshops.

However, parents remain livid over the matter. A public meeting was held this week for residents to express their concerns.

It is not known whether girls actually had to kiss one another, or if the exercise stopped at the request.

As if we needed one more reason to homeschool. Yikes.

Home schooling is to blame for this! If the decent parents left their decent kids in the schools, then the schools would be much better off. You want to take the schools back, then put your kids back in public schools!

No, we don’t want to take the “schools back”
We need to end them and get every lazy parent to actually influence and invest in their children’s lives.

Speaking for both Finrod and myself, we take offense at that comment.
(He’s right. I’m offended just as much as he is.)
Did it ever occur to you that maybe not every parent has the time or the ability to teach their children? Take, for example, Finrod and I. I’m a college freshman, Fin is a highschool freshman. We’re both considered extremely intelligent in our classes.
(Our parents both work full-time. Our father is a teacher and our mother is a nurse. In addition, we have six other siblings. There is literally NO TIME for them to homeschool us. This does not make them lazy.)
Also, Finrod actually asked our mother if she could be homeschooled.
(She said that I would be able to learn more at a public school than I would at home, and not just about the subjects. Feanor and I were pretty sheltered until we hit highschool, and it’s given us a lot of exposure to the real world that we wouldn’t have gotten had we been homeschooled.)
Fin’s right. She would literally have spent every spare moment of her time with her nose in a book.
(Hey! You would have spent every moment playing chess!)
…True. Anyways, I feel our point’s been made. Until next time.

For being a college student, you sure do need to learn how to read. The comment was literally talking about lazy parents not being involved in their children’s lives and nowhere does it say that your parents or any other specific ones are lazy, it directly calls out the lazy ones. The fact that you’re so deeply offended by such a statement just proves that you actually do believe the opposite of what you stated and are just simply feeling the need to defend them for their behavior.

Perhaps yuour parents are not lazy, nobody did call them so, however your actions speak toward the opposite. It’s always better if you actually read before replying.

It’s not fair to call the parents lazy since most of them are single mothers raising multiple children on her own. Must she quit her job so we live on the streets to get homeschooled, or bus bench schooled? We probably wouldn’t even be able to afford books. Come on now.

I am also home schooled. I have a social life(a rather active one actually), and I don’t hate my life. All of the home schooled kids I know have a social life, and don’t hate their lives.

Home schoolers can have a social life, you just have to find ways to become socially active.

We DO need public education, and we DO need to make it decent. We will NEVER get all parents to homeschool, nor do we need to try. But the schools need to teach basics, WITHOUT the horrible bias that comes from squashing any semblance of Christianity. We also need to protect the right of EVERY parent to homeschool if they choose to do so. The schools won’t change unless forced, and real world competition is the best way to do that. (By the way, anyone who thinks that high school even remotely resembles the “real world” just is NOT thinking clearly) When the parents decide whether they get a paycheck, we will stop having teachers risking their jobs to introduce such craziness in the classroom, and maybe they can do their actual job.

            Dear Feanor and Finrod:

“Take, for example, Finrod and I” is a prefect example of what the current Public Schools are teaching! Proper English: “Take, for example Finrod and ME.” At least she (?) didn’t say “Me and Finrod”. The “rule of thumb” for deciding if it should be “me” or “I” is to take out the other word in the sentence, and hear which sounds right. For example, which sounds correct: “Take for example I”, or “Take for example me”? As was said above, another example of why home-schooling works.

There are decent kids in high school. Many Christians and other good people attend public high school. The problem isn’t which students are IN the schools, it is the government schools themselves.

Way to try and shift the blame.

            Government control IS THE PROBLEM.
Look at history. In Russia, the government completely controlled the schools and indoctrinated the students against their parents and especially against RELIGION!
That is why that nation became so impoverished and still has not recovered even today.

You are deceiving yourself if you really think home schoolers are responsible for this garbage. The schools are not run by parents. Parents can give their input to boards and principals, but that’s all it is; input.

The fact is I can’t be responsible for everyone else’s kids. While I do what I can to help make the schools a decent place my children would graduate before enough reforms were made to give me the confidence to put them back in school.
I have to do what is best for the children in my care and keeping them home is what is best. I feel for those who do not have that influence but refuse to sacrifice my kids by placing them in a toxic environment. That would be like slowly poisoning them.

Are you kidding me!? Maxp0wer you have NO clue! It is NOT up to ‘decent’ children to teach other children about decency. That is a parents job. It’s also about the school trusting parents enough to parent their children in the proper manner. This article is not about what the kids did wrong, it’s about what the school did wrong! It’s about parental rights being taken away and how parents don’t get a say in what and how their children are being taught. THAT is why parents all over are opting to homeschool their kids and why even if they didn’t our schools would not be any better.

This is crazy. If the local community, hence voters, are so angry and outraged, then maybe they should do something about it come election time. Citizenship 101, you voted the school board members in office. You elect people with no moral values, then this is what you get. This crap would not have even been considered at our local public schools, which my four children attend. It is not just about parents, it is the voters who put these people in office. This you can change!

It is NOT up to the school to raise children with character, but up to the parents. If a parent has to continually battle the school over liberal “progressive” education and all it encompasses, the child looses bc they spend more time under the guidance of the school than the parent. Where does the parent have time to do “damage control” in such a way as to over-ride the 1500+ hours a child spends immersed in such garbage? Take into account the hours a child spends in after school care or in front of the TV or in traveling…these are usually hours a parent doesn’t have to re-teach their child appropriate behavior and responses. Then recall the hours a parent spends going about the necessary care/maintenance of the home after being at work all day, 5-7 days a week. Where is the time for “good” parents to train “good” children? The problem is not the “good” parents taking “good” kids out of public school, the problem is bad parents training bad children and the government encouraging them. If we all stopped living for ourselves and expecting immediate gratification we would have the foresight to train our children appropriately to begin with.

Oh for… this is one of the most illogical things I’ve ever read. NOTHING would change except you would just bring the homeschooled kids down to that level. Because the teachers won’t change, the non-academic crap they bring into the school won’t change. These are not schools, they are indoctrination centers and if parents have the time to homeschool or the wherewithal to put them in private schools I say more power to them.

An Albany High School teacher raised eyebrows and a flurry of complaints when an assignment required students to write from the perspective of the Nazis, New York Magazine reports.Students were tasked with writing an argument that Jews are evil.”You must argue that Jews are evil, and use solid rationale from government propaganda to convince me of your loyalty to the Third Reich!” the assignment said.
I have already told my children if their charter school ever pulls anything like this, I will Home School my grandkids or sell everything I have to send them to a Catholic school. Most teachers are democrats, liberals and belong to powerful teacher unions. Their agendas are those of our government, to brainwash our children so their loyalty is to the government, not their parents and their values.
They tore down all the public schools in our town (about 12) and built all new ones. Enrollments are dwindling as people with sense and values are sending their kids to Charter schools where uniforms are required, discipline is enforced, and children are taught at the level each one is capable of doing, not the grade level for their age!

Im sorry but I will ABSOLUTELY disagree with you on that! Homeschooling is not to blame for the actions of irresponsible adults. I feel that it is the parent and the students choice whether or not they attend school or be home schooled. It amazes me that so many people are against home schooling especially when it saves alot of kids from being bashed, bullied, and harassed. Just because kids are home schooled does not mean that they are bad people. It has been proven that kids who are home schooled benefit more and are proven to be more successful. So I’d reconsider your opinion. Home schooling does not depict who is decent and who isn’t. There are just way too many bullies in schools this day and age. And way too many parents who either don’t do anything about it or just simply don’t care. So to say that home schooling is the fault for actions that others are taking is simply ridiculous! I think that the home schooling kids are the smarter ones. Due to previous experience being one of those kids… Id say homeschooling is more beneficial anyway. And just because homeschooling is at home doesn’t mean that a parent for your teacher is required… I attend a homeschooling program funded by Ball State and I have NEVER had my parent as my teacher. They are fully staffed with their own qualified teachers, counselors, principals, etc. So just because parents send their children to public school… doesn’t mean they’re lazy. They’re obviously working to provide for their families. My parent’s didn’t send me to public school to be lazy its because they were providing for me! And I;m not home schooled because Im too lazy to attend public school, its because there are way too many bullies, worthless teachers, etc. plus ITS MORE BENEFICIAL!!!!

Home schooling will never be to blame for this type of issues ever at all! Keeping our children out of these places insures that our children will not end up with the same moral compas as other children. Having our children in schools will never bring the moral compass up to a Godly level, it will only bring our childrens moral compass down to the same level as everyone else. Your logic is tragically flawed. Homeschool students could not have prevented the forced actions of school officials. Students were made to do this against their will and without notification of parents. Putting homeschool students into this environment would merely violate the rights of more students and parents. The teachers and those who took pleasure in watching our children forced into this act are no more than child pedophiles. They should be fired and arrested as such along with child endangerment. If one child commits suicide because of being force and can’t live with what was done. That teacher should face the death penalty for the murder. This is an Un-Godly act and is not how God interned for his children to live. It is sinful.

You wamnt our kids back in teh schools, YOU work to clean them up, make them functional, and turn out well educated “product”. Until then, none of MINE will ever darken their doors. EVER.

        • I have no obligation to put my children in a government school. I never pulled them out of a government school to begin with. Furthermore, the government schools could be flooded with the children of devout Christian parents and it still wouldn’t do any good.

The problem is that the government shouldn’t be involved in education. Wherever ideas are taught, which values to be taught becomes an issue. The government’s supposed neutrality on religion has become hostility towards Christian values. It was inevitable and the only solution is to call for the separation of school and state.

          We will continue to homeschool.

        • No, it’s not the kids primarily, it’s the government and the teachers and the teacher’s unions. They are anti-God and they will do everything they can to corrupt the children. They are the bullying problem. They don’t teach the children that there is an absolute moral standard set out by a righteous God, instead they teach them that the earth and everything in it is a huge accident and that humans are simply advanced animals and that morals are subjective and that homosexuals have just as much right to marry as anyone else and that socialism and communism are the best forms of government. I don’t really feel like my children learning all that junk for twelve years, and every day for twelve years having to undo the damage as it’s done. I would rather teach my children the truth and then send them out trained and ready, as opposed to throwing them in among the wolves from the age of six and expecting them to be ‘warriors for Jesus’.
Go take your naive thoughts elsewhere.

MY child’s education is TOO important for me to risk it to UNION THUG teachers and the spawn of loser parents.

Children are not the role models for loser kids. That is the job of the parents. Many homeschool because we are Christians and we don’t want our kids minds poisoned by the liberal lies the public school put out there. It is not our job to prepare our children so they can modify the behavior of the losers.

We made conscious choices and lived without luxuries that others think are necessities so we could homeschool after having to reteach material to our children who suffered through homeschool. Our job as parents is to raise our children to adulthood and after that when they are “salt” they can mix and mingle with “losers” if they wish. It will be on them and so will the consequences.

If being a good kid could have any effect on loser kids, it would have happened. Unfortunately, a good kid can not effect change on loser teachers, admin, students and their parents.

I hope more and more people homeschool. When you completely separate yourself from your district they get NO federal or state funding that is per-student for your child. STARVE THE BEAST!

Why not demand the school administration correct this obvious wrong doing. They are the ones to blame for allowing it and they should correct it. The kids do not run the schools. They are only influenced by them. We are the parents and should always have the final say in what our children are taught. Unfortunately the Public School system is in a terrible downward spiral of filth and immorality brought about by the humanist agenda. Homeschooling and private schools are the only viable options as the parents still have sway over what is taught there.

I respectfully disagree. I thought like you when I was single, but my perspective has radically changed. My young children are being taught in the ways of the Lord, in an environment of safety, peace, and love. They daily receive individual attention, and character development is a primary focus of their education. They are not young missionaries whose objective is to save the kids in public school. As their parents, we steward their upbringing and are held accountable to God for our actions. On average, public schools are not better off when Christians attend, but Christian children are usually worse off and require daily reprogramming. Public schools are run by statists, humanists give over to moral relativism. My kids don’t need to be fed lies all day, and I don’t need to spend every night doing damage control. last but not least, public schools give out so much homework, the average parent of a public school child ends up homeschooling anyway.

Exactly what I thought when I was reading this! Obama wants to reduce budgets; so lets close the schools, give every parent $400 a year, per child for education. Those that cannot or do not want to educate their children can enroll them in a private school, either Christian or not, and then they will have some say in what goes on in their childs education.

Who the heck can afford private school these days now multiply that tuition by 3 or more children, 400 dollars doesn’t begin to touch what it costs to home school or send them to private school especially since quite a few states require a teachers certification to home school your children. The key is to putting pressure on the school district and not letting up or compromising. These are your children the more involved parents are the less likely these things slip by us.

        • Peggy S #

I agree that $400 per year is nowhere NEAR enough to cover cost of tuition for private schools.

However, it IS MORE than enough to cover the cost to homeschool. I have 4 kids I am schooling and spend less than that amount, probably more like $250 per kid. There are more expensive options to be sure, like it you want to buy a DVD to teach your kid and a kit that you just hand them worksheets, then $400 would still be enough…

My wife and I homeschool our kids for under $500/year. She stays at home to homeschool. So some women might think of that as a loss of one income. Nevertheless, it doesn’t cost as much as you may think, and many homeschoolers finish high school well before age 18. My children are on track to finish at 15-16 y.o.

Currently, every child in public school here is worth 1200 to the district. Not sure where the 400 comes from. We chose to put two of our children in private school at 250 per month. It has been a struggle financially but the blessings are tenfold in the wonderful people the children have become 8 years later. It really comes down to what is most important to you as a parent. If you keep your children in Public School then fight. Do not let them get away with this and make sure your children know that you are fighting for them.

        Hey you guys!
This is actually an anti-bullying program designed by Laura Bush. Please get your facts straight.
It is not pushing the “gay agenda” (as if there is one, but I won’t change your minds about that). The class was split up into males and females. The “Can I have a kiss?” part wasn’t a “lesbian” thing, it was a way to practice saying no in a safe space. It’s a way to get girls to stand up for themselves so they are not pressured into having sex.
The boys were not taught about carrying a condom or “identifying a slut.” They were taught that “slut” is a harmful term.
As for the people talking about “kiddie porn,” what is wrong with you? Maybe you need to go confess or something for thinking about those things.

Kissing is a personal act and should NEVER be forced upon anyone, much less a child. That is called sexual abuse – per legal and psychological definitions. Kissing someone of the same sex and describing it as a “lesbian kiss” adds a sexual connotation, is a very specific type of sexual abuse.

As someone that taught against bullying, this is the most ridiculous session I have ever heard about. In fact, it fits the criteria of being bullied.

If you think this isn’t pushing a “no boundaries” lifestyle, you are either ignorant, young or part of the movement.

By the way, as a parent, no school has the right to force such a program that includes sexual discussions beyond the basic health lesson on MY child. That is MY job. If the school wants to jump in and act like the parent, then they MUST provide a transcript of what is going to be taught and give a parent the right to opt out their child.

What is wrong with people today?

No matter what was taught, clearly parents have a role in this and if it is what you say, the schools should encourage parents to get involved. Parental involvement will help to ease parents concerns, show kids parents do care and the parents can help develop the program. Parental involvement will help keep it all above board.

          April 21, 2013 at 2:57 pm
          • Chris #

Have you ever tried to be an involved parent? Have you ever tried to get a school to give something to your kid that was required by law to be provided, and yet was not provided by the school because the Principal decided it was not a necessity, no matter what the law says? Parents can make “suggestions” but unless they are prepared to sue, there is no way parent involvement is going to keep “it all above board”.

Principals have their own agenda, School Boards have their own agenda, Superintendents have their own agenda, but they forget that there are parents out there that will take them to Court and make them follow the law.

There was no call for this “lesson” and no call for parents not to be notified in advance about this “lesson” which says the school knew it was wrong, knew it was going to be an issue with the parents and went ahead and did it anyway because once it is done, they can’t undo it.

Yes, there certainly is a gay agenda and this shows it Kaitlin. If it was only about saying no to an unwanted advance, these loons would have had the boys ask for the kiss and that would have been wrong to have any kids involved to do their liberal work. Get your facts straight too as Laura Bush would have never approve of the perverted way that her program has been hijacked by these perverts.

Are you a parent? My middle schooler has not shown an interest in kissing nor did my high schooler when she was in middle school , nor does my almost middle schooler; after attending this they would be that much closer……not what I want for my children. I think the point most parents are trying to make is WE take OUR jobs as parents very serious by sacrificing and working hard at instilling OUR beliefs and values into them, these lessons do not go along with what we want taught to them. The school should at the very least have sent home a permission form, then parents who teach their children stricter and/or ifferent values and beliefs could exempt their children; this could also help keep the school out of hot water. Schools are not responsible for a our children or who they become so teaching them anything that could alter or affect that (especially at this age) in anyway is not their responsibility.

        • Connie #

How do you know that this was not a lesbian thing? According to the article, they were instructed to ask for a “lesbian kiss”, which clearly states that sexual preference was being implied.

Even if it wasn’t gender-specific, do your really think it appropiate for your daughter, or son, to ask anyone for a kiss as part of a school assignment? If this had happened to my daughter, she wouldn’t have been polite. She’d have told the teacher to ……….. (you supply the words, and they would have been far worse,) and she’d have left the class. Because, unlike this school system seems to believe, some parents do teach their kids that they NEVER have to put up with bullying, or anyone who insists that they do anything that makes them uncomfortable. And the article did state, as I’m sure was the absolute truth, this requirement made some of the girls feel uncomfortable.
If you condone this, what else would you condone as a “school lesson against bullying”? A girl grabbing your daughter’s tush, just so your daughter learns how to kick, scream, and gouge out some fool’s eyes?

BULLYING is not acceptible. But you don’t have to demonstrate it in order to teach against it. And I fail to understand why your daughter would think that someone ASKING for a kiss is bullying. Bullying is usually accompanied by some form of physical or emotional threat, real or perceived. It’s better to ask than make assumptions. Bottom line: kissing should never enter into any classroom assignments or activities, regardless of what the school claims the purpose is.

I totally agree with Connie. Back in the 80’s when my youngest daughter was in school in CA, we were notified by the school that they would be teaching a “sex ed” class and we could review the curriculum. In doing so we, at the end of the book it stated not to ask your parents about this but ask teachers and peers. You can imagine how that went over. Never the less that curriculum wasn’t used. As parents we should be notified by schools when any “sexual material”, (even if it’s in the form of bullying) is being taught to our children. Parents have to be involved with their children’s education and be aware of what’s going on with them at school. The school should not be the only educator of our children.

The problem really is not what happened in the classroom. The problem was that the parents were not notified.

It doesn’t matter how you slice the cake, if you tell a female to ask a female for a kiss, you’re encouraging them to participate in homosexual activities, PERIOD. It seems that YOU need to get YOUR facts straight. Who created the program is irrelevant, almost all politicians are corrupt. The fact is, the exercise is designed to encourage female children to participate in homosexual activity during one of the exercises. That is FACT and the focus of the argument. It’s indisputable!

No, I don’t need to go confess anything. But it wouldn’t hurt you to get enlightened about the news, and realize that right now, Californians are trying to establish pedophelia as acceptable behavior…. you know, not a crime? And we all know, as goes CA, so goes the rest of the country, eventually. And how many teachers have been caught “with their hands in the cookie jars” of their students? Most of those students just happened to be in the same age group as the students in this “course.” Don’t kid yourself that school teachers are above reproach, or that such things “only happen to other people.” That’s a good way to find your kid has been victimized. Vigilance is a parent’s best parenting tool. Ignorance is for a time when no one said the word “sex” in public.

But just for the record, assuming that you are hetrosexual, how would you have felt if your 8th grade teacher had insisted that you go ask someone of your gender for a kiss? Keep in mind, you’d be graded on classroom participation.

Thank you for clarifying Kaitlin. All I could think is ‘How does anyone buy into this stuff?’ This article contains falsified information and it’s sources are completely inadequate. Unabashedly aiming to reinforce the belief that allowing other people to have rights will somehow infringe upon your own. Here’s the real deal. These people want to be respected like every other human on earth. They want the right to pursue life, love and happiness. They have been discriminated against for a very long time and would never try to influence children so carelessly. And rightfully so; other people forcing their beliefs on them their entire lives is exactly what has kept them from being treated as equals deserving of love and opportunity.

Lesbians and homosexuals have always had the right to pursue life, love, and happiness. Stop playing the victim.

Homosexuality should NOT be respected. It is a symptom of trauma, and all those on your side demanding its normalization are doing a disservice to homosexuals.

            The article is slanted, yes.

But this exercise in coaching students to say “no” to undesired sexual advances carries more than its surface lesson. As it teaches that saying “no” to an undesired “lesbian kiss” is a confident, healthy act, it is simultaneously teaching that it is okay to ask for a lesbian kiss and that it is okay to desire to accept and receive one. This is a lesson in perversion, and the academicians and social scientists and GLBTQ activists at the origins of these so-called “diversity” and “tolerance” and “anti-bullying” and “cultural awareness” exercises know damn-well that it is.

We aren’t buying it. Homosexuality is an unhealthy perversion. Its victims deserve better, and they deserve better friends than those found in the GLBTQ community.

I’ve been researching and trying to find an initiative or program designed by Laura Bush on Anti-bullying. Can’t find anything. You would think that if a former First lady designed a program like that, it would be fairly simple to find info on it. But it’s not.

You are correct, we we weren’t there in the class. We don’t know how it was presented. But that is just it-we don’t know. As parents, any issue discussing sexuality should be left up to the parents to discuss at home, when they feel it is ready. I agree, not many do. There is a good number of things parents SHOULD be discussing with their kids, but don’t.

As parents, we do need to be aware that the government schools do have an agenda, and they have propaganda and they have their own ideas of what is right and wrong. They are heavily influenced by political correctness, and where the money comes from. Sad, but true.

As such, if you are concerned with this, you 1) are more than likely already an involved and active parent and 2) are more than likely going to become MORE involved and active!

Have discussions with your kids about all kinds of things. Know what they are learning, who their friends are, how they like their teachers and WHY they like certain teachers.

We choose to homeschool and I believe most people can do it more than they think they can (we buy books and stuff to tell us what to teach-I don’t do it on my own!) I also understand that not everyone CAN, or SHOULD!

We need to get out of this notion that someone else is better equipped to teach our kids, better able to instruct/guide etc. our children. For years, we were able to trust the professionals (doctors, teachers, etc.) that they had our children’s best interests at heart. Sadly, we cannot trust all of them now. They are influenced by money, by agendas and by differing views than us. There needs to be a shift towards PARENTS being the ones to influence their children. Already, many feel that parents have no right to make decisions for their kids, that the government is better able to know what is best for them. This type of program is what happens. Doctors feel they know what is best for children so they force parents to do medical treatments for their kids… The list goes on.

What do we do? We need to pay attention and fight for our rights as Parents! It does not matter how we choose to educate our children. We are their parents and that right to choose what we feel is best for our children should be left to us! Don’t let others try to divide us by our religious views, or our ethical/moral views or educational views. We need to have this right to choose! I may not agree with what your choices are, but I will agree with your right to choose it for your child!

So, why were some girls “forced” to ask? Everything you said was pretty much a load of crap. Once you ask, you open the door for the other girl to take advantage of the situation and you can’t really say anything, because you asked. Again, the girls were “forced” to ask.

Your reasoning is invalid. This program is overstepping its boundaries by leaps and bounds. They’re WAY out of line.

Despite the intent of the (any) program, there IS a problem when the kids don’t even understand what they’ve been taught. It doesn’t matter that the school tries to say this is not a bullying program – if the kids believe they were bullied, they were bullied. Period. If the children were made to feel uncomfortable, then it’s a problem. Period. That’s what matters.
The school and the program messed up big time, it sounds like. And I’m with the parents – they should have been given notice of the details of these classes with an option to opt out.

This school opened up a whole can of worms with this, didn’t they? Well, I say, it’s about time. Someone needed to do something to force more parents to take a stand and demand more involvement in the subject matter and activities that the school boards determine necessary.

Whether you approve of, or oppose this particular school program, the bottom line is: if parents teach their kids at home, then the schools wouldn’t see the behavior that causes them to push for these lessons. If parents discourage and even punish (not abuse) unacceptible behavior in their children, the students are less likely to display those behaviors at school. But all “bad behavior” can’t be prevented 100% of the time. Kids act up. It’s part of the teen changing from child to adult, and they try to throw their weight around a little bit. It’s up to you to set those limits.

From the time they were teens, my kids could cuss up a storm, and I said nothing. They knew there were 2 exceptions to their verbal tirades: they could NEVER direct such assaults toward me, or any other adult, but especially ME, and they could not use such language in public. While some parents would find that attitude unacceptible, in my family, it gave my kids a safe place to “put their big girl pants on” and dance the adult dance of language. In other words, when they weren’t punished for it, but taught that it is not appropriate in some circles, they learned, and began to feel like the adults they were becoming.

So, now it’s really up to you, the parents. The school boards are ready to step in and do what you can’t/won’t do…… teach your kids proper behavior. How to handle a bully, how to deal with peer pressure, sex education, matters of religion, political beliefs (such as your stand on gun control,) and many other issues will present themselves to your teens. Either you teach them how these situations are best handled, and make your voices heard by the school boards…. Or the schools will deem it their responsibility to take over your roles as “morals teacher” from you, and they’ll put the politically correct spin on it. Then, you’ll face situations like this “lesbian kiss” issue, over and over again. It all depends on what you’re willing to do to keep your parental rights.

Maybe “taking back our country” should include “taking back our schools.” BTW: I only had one child in public school. My youngest has been homeschooled since the start of first grade, and she’s never been taught anything that I didn’t approve of. Just saying……… Good luck to all you parents, and your kids. 😀

They don’t want the Bible in school because they don’t want ANYBODY thinking about God or what the Bible says. Today, what is happening is that they are trying to remove God not just from the schools, but from the hearts of those that would accept Him.

Those parents were angry? Only angry??? Why were they not down there tearing down the walls of that school!!!! MY CHILD WOULD NEVER DARKEN THE DOORWAYS OF ANY SCHOOL TODAY! Traumatized 12 year old boys and 12 year old girls, budding into sexual awareness, having been victims of an absent parent, hateful parent, abusive parent, molesting uncle, etc., are ripe for being sold the lies of the GLBTQ lobby and their supporters in popular culture. These self-loathing activists understand that with this young age comes an excellent opportunity to steer these young boys and girls away from the healthy, wholesomeness of stable families lead by a heterosexual mother and father.

People can be lead into the homosexual lifestyle and orientation, just as they can be lead away from it, and into healthy marriages and healthy families.

I want everyone to love Jesus, but I won’t force that agenda on anyone. The reason I want everyone to love Jesus is because there is life and purpose far more fulfilling in him than in any sexual persuasion.

You are right, you can’t turn people straight, but God can. He does it every day. The lie that homosexuals are trapped in their behavior as being born that way is simply one of the most destructive lies on the planet.

I don’t have to have Jesus forced on anyone, but to have the freedom for Christian students to proclaim and take a stand for what they believe is more than just fair, it’s needful.

Schools were set up in order to educate all children in how to read, write and do mathematics. The purpose was to be able to better themselves in life, wether in work/ Farming ? ect…. and to not be taken advantage of just because they couldn’t read, do math, or sign their name.
It wasnt to take over the parents job in teaching their children right from wrong, what the family believes morally, and/ or especially not anything about sexual Behaviour of any kind, and especially enacting it out! This didn’t just suddenly happen, societies morals have deteriorated over the last ten years exponentially in comparrisson to any other time in history, and has been readily accepted it seems (except by us conservative minorities who are seriously criticized for our stand) by the majority of the people.
The person in the White House says it all!! Socialistic lunacy is the accepted course by the people, and the vote proved it!
Those parents and parents from all over this country should stand up together against this type of “supposed teaching” and any other “teachings” like it. I feel for those parents, and hope many are upset enough to take the issue as far as need be to get it stopped, and out of the schools! May God Bless and be with them in that Cause, should they take it up!

Schools it seems have taken the position that they need to instruct children that what society says is good truly is. WELL IT IS NOT.
I believe that is why God created the family, that is what parents are here for. Did someone think in their infinite wisdom that government and or schools are allowed to supersede their judgement??

PARENTS teach their children values and acceptable behavior. I agree that some do not perform this task well, but such is the risk we take in order to live in a free society.

I am truly grateful that I do not have children in these schools. The administrators should be immediately dismissed and not allowed to work with children ever again.

I’d sue their asses off for A.) encouraging sexual activity of minors, and B.) encouraging them to spread germs during a time when hygiene lessons are trying to keep kids from even sharing glasses that have touched the mouth of another person. If they actually had to kiss, then those responsible for those lessons put your children at risk of illness. Pull out all the stops on this one, people. The AIDS virus is present in tears as well as saliva. Since it is essentially impossible to ‘prove’ where one contracted AIDS (speak to healthcare workers who have contracted it on the job and tried to obtain compensation from their employer) there is no definitive proof that AIDS has been spread this way, but the virus is present.
Earlier on in the AIDS epidemic there was a Frontline episode on this topic. Several experts claimed that there were no documented cases of AIDS being contracted via saliva…one of the experts said that there was one case that had been definitively proven of a dentist contracting it from a patient with AIDS. The other experts immediately jumped in and said that was only one case, it was highly uncommon. The expert that noted that case pointed out that a single case negates the contention that it cannot be spread via saliva. I may be rare, he noted, but it has happened. The other experts jumped in again and said that while there was this single case that otherwise it cannot be spread through saliva.
Being in a profession that deals with statistics and analysis I was stunned that scientists could think this way. If it occurs in a single instance it is statistically possible. Of course when there is an agenda or a public opinion to push statistics do not count when they don’t back your viewpoint, and so it has been with AIDS. The oft trumpeted ‘fact’ that AIDS was spreading faster in the heterosexual population was actually fact…given that the RATE of spread among homosexuals eventually slowed and that as it spread to the heterosexual population an increase from zero is a huge increase in rate. It all depends upon parsing the words and the data to make your case; and this has been the case in the AIDS narrative from the start.

They need to fire that administration because its pedophilia. Sexuality has no place among the classroom. Specially among those under 16 in NYC. They need to be fired and put on a child predator list. If they can do it to 14 and 13 year olds they will go younger.

    April 20, 2013 at 8:42 pm
    • Lolly #

While I don’t like what they did in this New York middle school (and agree that the administration should be severely reprimanded, if not fired) you should know that pedophilia is “The act or fantasy on the part of an ADULT of engaging in sexual activity with a child or children.” Young people who are the same age cannot be engaging in pedophilia because–inherently–pedophilia requires an adult wanting a child.
That being said who in the world do these administrators and college students think they are? If they feel teaching tolerance is necessary, fine, but to make two girls ask each other for ‘lesbian’ kisses is beyond the pale unacceptable. Imagine the uproar if the administration had a class where they made a homosexual boy ask a girl out?!? We’d never hear the end of how disrespectful it is to make someone do something against how ‘they were born.’
There are ways to teach tolerance and acceptance which are much more useful. Badly done, Linden Avenue Middle School!! Badly done.

If the adult perpetuates the sexual activity between the two teens, it is still sexual abuse, also it can be sexual abuse even is the adult does not engage in physical sexual abuse with the child but watches. Also trying to pervert (this is not teaching) a child into having sexual activities and the very simple fact that these adults are discussing anything sexual with your child should comsume any desent parent with rage. Because it was statutory rape, but it wasn’t pedophilia unless the person who was causing the sexual activity was an adult and the person who was having sexual activity forced upon them was a child. and actually I think pedophilia only applies to people under 10 or q

I respect the intentions of the presentation, and believe that they are important. I also see what they were trying to do with the kiss; “normalize” the practice. However, forcing one another to do so is not only uncomfortable as well as overly sexual, it teaches a larger lesson about not respecting one’s own boundaries and body.

According the the article, the students were counseled to keep a condom in their pockets at all times. Teaching the students that ‘principle” is as good as teaching them it is okay to have sex, as long as you’re using protection. And, additionally, it may be that the mother was responding to information given to her by her child which the article author decided wasn’t pertinent enough to be given to the article readers.

and where is the part of this that makes it appropriate to teach during what is supposed to be an anti-bullying presentation?? that is the reason why this is supposedly state mandated, preventing bullying is a worthy topic to discuss…..this, however, makes no mention of bullying except when the child said that she now feels more at risk for being the target of bullying

when did it become so acceptable for the school to teach our children such important things such personal things?

      April 21, 2013 at 3:33 pm
      • The girl ALREADY KNEW how to say no. If they DON’T want something they WILL say no. That was NOT a lesson taught to be by a school, or my parents. It’s natural instinct to say no, or back off when you feel uncomfortable or threatened….

Whatever this presentation was for I DON’T HAVE A CLUE, but it creeps me out. It is beyond WRONG. An adult asking a kid to do a lesbian kiss is nothing short of perverted….and teaching the boys what a “slut” is? That is not okay.

According to reports, during the workshop for the adolescent boys, the students were counseled to keep a condom in their pocket at all times, and were taught how to identify a woman who is a “slut.”

I would LOVE to hear what they had to say about how a boy could identify a girl that would be considered a “slut”…..this is the antithesis of the stated goal of this exercise!! Also, since they’re teaching the boys to carry condoms, why stop there?!? Teach them how much time, energy and money it takes to raise a baby…..which, of course, comes back to having the necessary tools so they can find jobs that would support themselves and one day, their families. If schools want to take the first step by handing out condoms, then it’s time they either finish the lesson or abandon this lesson altogether. Boys are taught to carry protection and girls live with the consequences.

This is not surprising given the increase in depravity in the hearts and minds of men. We must keep in mind that our public school system’s founder was John Dewey who was a confirmed socialist and an added note: our nation’s pledge of alliance was written by a confirmed socialist as well. When institiutions of man are based on socialism, then what spirit rules in that system? Is God truly at the center of such a system; is marriage as defined by God built up and respected; is the value placed on human life valued; are the values of working hard and minding your own buisness while witnessing Jesus as the only way unto salvation and the dying to self in order to build others up in the faith practiced? We must bear in mind that our public school system was not centered on Jesus Christ and His teachings….oh, they may have had a sprinkling of a value here and another moral there, but in reality, the name of Jesus was never included in the whole system.

I have children in the public school system so I know first hand what goes on behind the walls build with human hands. In truth, most of the teachers have never had a true born again conversion according to the definition of our Holy Word. And we must keep in mind, when there is not a true conversion, then God, the Holy Spirit, is not doing a work on the heart and the mind, thus promoting and worshipping the spirit of this age, instead of Jesus Christ. It is a fallen system and many teachers themselves have no conviction of the sin that rules in their lives…..we have so many that are divorced, teaching our children in this day and age. Is it possible that when so many are becoming divorced, could this act change a person’s theology from Biblical to perhaps antiBiblical? Absolutely!

And bear in mind, with the increase of “it takes a village to raise a child” promoted within the confines of our society; community, schools, and yes, sadly the church walls, man has taken it upon himself to disrepect God ordained marriage, parenthood, and families. And I believe God, our Father is right……the depravity in the heart of man is making busibodies, evil doers, and workers of iniquity out of even those who would call themselves Christians.

This is what happens when we worship “the self.” Self esteem anyone….ie. James Dobson?

May I also add a few other comments please. Our public school system has never taught the precious teachings of our LORD Jesus Christ….morals and values, perhaps some, but we must bear in mind that unbelievers have morals and values as well. When a person begins to research and study to understand what the founders of any institution of man actually believe, such as John Dewey, the founder of education, then it stands to reason why schools are becoming increasingly depraved. I have also homeschooled my children in certain subjects and there too, one must be very discerning for Christian homeschool materials may also promote worldviews that are not in alignment with the written Word….like dominionism, patriotism, subjective experiences, spiritual elitism, etc…..for there is no perfect educational system of man because of our sin.

We get upset when we see articles such as these for we know the spirits of darkness are at work here. But are we concerned when our churches made with human hands are a mirror reflection of our culture? Please allow me to explain….would you as a parent be alarmed if an elder in your church gave a public testimony stating that “the holy spirit (I wil not capitalize this spirit as it is not from God, the Father) told him to get a tatoo, complete with the verse to “witness” to people? And on the way home from church, your child boldly declares that he is going to get a tatoo because that elder/leader has a powerful role model relationship with your youth. Or what do you think about having a youth group leader that is divorced…..or how about another youth group leader who dyes her hair bright pink and wears highly questionable clothing when “leading?” Or how about that youth group leader that confesses “I haven’t read my Bible in awhile, maybe I should start reading it again.”

Since the “church” is a mirror reflection of our culture, I find these articles not surprising to say the least. I just read in one of my rural magazine publications, a woman, who professes to be a Christian, promoting the teachings of one sexual deviant of the worst kind, Alfred Kinsey, in one of her articles. Absolutely shocking…..but I cannot condemn because during the past couple of years, I am learning what the educational and church-cational system has not taught me…..truth as found in the Scriptures. That is why Paul, in Acts, commended the Bereans for testing the Scriptures to see if everything he taught was true……..we are encouraged by those very words to do the same and test every spirit, in every aspect of our culture.

Jeremiah 17:5 “Thus saith the LORD, “Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD.”

I am disgusted by the teachers in our schools. They teach the “future of America” the wrong ideals. A child must grow up under the supervision of a mother and father and school teachers should not inject into the minds of the students any anti-religious (gay) beliefs and any anti political party issues. If you want to be gay, that is up to you, and should not be taught in our schools. Homeschooling is the answer since our teachers have deteriorated and become too liberal.

This said they were supposed to ASK for a kiss, so that the other person could turn them down. (How to deal with unwanted sexual advances) Personally, I applaud the initiative. I agree this should be taught at home, but there are a lot of homes that DON’t! I deal with students on a daily basis whose parents were and still are neglectful of their educational needs as well as of their basic human needs. If the teachers don’t teach these students, then who will? When you have students come to class who haven’t been taught to bathe or brush their hair, or brush their teeth, then what else do you think the parents of these students are going to neglect to teach them?

Man, this is absolutely shameful,, this has NOTHING to do with education in the least and you bastards know it, you ought to be ashamed of your selves!!! This why particular states become the butt of jokes and ridicule, because they intiate stupid crap like this which has absolutely nothing to do with educating students. Disgraceful.

I’m sorry to say this isn’t a surprise; expect more of this kind of thing because homosexual relationships are considered normal and just an alternative lifestyle. If you think this is bad wait until same-sex marriage is made legal everywhere, homosexual sexual habits will be taught as normal – not just kissing. Google “TDSB and veggie sex” to see what the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) promotes (Note: Warning not for the faint of heart). Beware, the same thing will be soon taught in your kids schools.

This is no more than abomination. This should not be taught in the school. The school should be restricted to the education of the children and this is not it. Children should be taught how to read and still many can’t read at their levee, teach math in order to teach a child how to use their brain without a calculate or computer, history of who this nation came to be and what it takes to preserve it. Other studies such as gay and lesbianism should never be a study. You removed the teaching of God but this is allowed. No wonder our children are so screwed up and drop out. It is past time to bring God, the pelage of allegiance and morals back into our school and fire all would want to keep it as it is.

The case can be made that this is institutional coercion of involuntary sexual acts among minor children. The citizens of NY have laws to protect their children from such acts. They must demand that such felons be prosecuted by their county DA and state AG. At the least, the individuals who demanded such a lesbian kiss should be prosecuted for child abuse. It’s the law. No exceptions for ignorance.

On April 16, they had a meeting for the parents to discuss concerns at Linden Ave Middle…I would love to see an update on this story since the meeting.

It is unthinkable that this type of instruction could happen in my child’s school without my knowledge. I know things are only going to get worse in years to come. And before I let my child be instructed in this way, I WILL pull her out and home school.

  55. Yet again the rights of parents and children are under attack by the free will of lesbians, gays, and schools administrators that think they have the right to force their agenda on unsuspecting parent’s and their children! Why is it a lengthy document sent home to allow your child to attend an event away from school and must have your signature on it and yet, this action (which was obviously planned well in advance) not a whisper comes forth until after the event?” I also have an issue with the young girls being introduced to being a lesbian, and the boys are given condoms and learn about sluts! Again what kind of message does this convey to these children? Bullying never entered my mind as i read of this, what did enter my mind is who paid these perverts to do this, “Our Taxes! Is it ok as long as the school condones it! I was taught each person has a right to be taught to become better citizens, learn to read and write, and become a an individual of good moral character . Do you think this happened in this instance? No, but it happen and Yes it will continue if we don’t stop this kind of action immediately!
My suggestion is force the administrators, student teachers, and school board to come together in front of these students and their parent’s and undergo the same humiliation these students suffered and then fire the whole bunch!
Again your rights end where my rights begin- at the end of our nose!

  57. I’ll bet any amount of money that the principle & the superintendant are lesbians. No heterosexual, nonpromiscuous adult with children would approve of this course. Of course, just the fact the parents weren’t given an opt out is the big red flag. Anti-bullying classes can be taught by teaching empathy for others in ways other than asking for a kiss. In our schools in Mesa AZ kids aren’t allowed to kiss each other. They are juveniles & can’t give permission for such things.

I agree with a comment earlier… This speaks well for HOME SCHOOLING. But the Administration will probably make it illegal for you (the Parent) to teach your child ANYTHING, as it might bend his/her little phychee away from the ‘totalitarian think’ drivvel they are imposing.

    April 21, 2013 at 12:54 pm
  59. Elice #

That is completely ridiculous. They had no right what so ever encouraging these young girls to kiss. And if they were trying to teach a specific point why weren’t the boys made to kiss! Not that I am condoning either one, they both are sickening. Any decent parent wouldn’t want their 13 and/14 yr olds subject to this behavior. If respect was being taught then these young girls would have been learning how they are in control of their bodies and they do not have to do anything they do not want to do, and words like “slut” would not have been used. That in itself is a form of bullying. These are children. If these “students” (the college students) are here to “help” then they need to remember they are teaching children and they do not need to be encouraged in having sex or partaking in sexual activity, but how to sustain for sexual activity and/ protect themselves. Then using more appropriate words like “sexually active males/females” would be more beneficial than “sluts”.

  75. I do not know how true this particular case is. HOWEVER, I can state what happened in our state at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, AZ approximately five years ago. They had a questionnaire that was mandatory, even though they said it was not, the teachers in two of my two daughter’s classes, threatened them if they did not fill it out and said they had to, and could not leave class. This was verified by other students in the class. It talked about similar things and even asked them (as Freshman and Sophomore – young ones at that) how they identified themselves sexually and gave all sort of terms they didn’t even understand).

They were smart enough to keep a duplicate copy because when we went to get another one, they wouldn’t hand them out. I wrote the Superintendent and the board members, and the principal called me with her excuse about the bullying class. I told her this was not their job to school my children on the types of people they should not bully, nor was it their job to identify their sexual preference. It was simple, “do not bully or else you will be suspended”.

Funny, this same principal wouldn’t deal with a student who was physically violent with my straight A daughter, by shoving his desk into her back over and over while the teacher played solitaire. Waiting for her above the stairwell and dropping full water bottles at her, as well as chucking them at her. Yes, I did something.

Let me tell you what I did, for any who wish to take action. First, I got the names of all the parents emails I could. I copied the questionable areas of the questionnaire and put it into the email. I also spent time collecting emails from all the churches in the area, newspapers, radio stations and t.v.

I also thought of every well known conservative nationally known radio or t.v. host, and news personality including even Ted Koppel and Rush Limbaugh on the email.

I did not Blind carbon copy, but I carbon copied. I also sent it to the city council explaining that perhaps people who were blindsided by thinking Scottsdale was conservative might think twice before moving her or starting a family business here.

I did multiple emails because I wanted them to actually SEE the carbon copies as well as identifying why I was carbon copying these others. I did about 20-30 carbon copies per email, probably a dozen emails, asking the people I emailed to ‘REPLY TO ALL” and also to please pass it along to their email address, and the alumni of the school (supporters).

Suddenly I was now contacted for a meeting, of course since my kids have come and gone, they are back to the same shenanigans and will likely continue and get worse.

But I never crossed the line of threats of anything inappropriate, we must keep sound speech, the newspaper did give me my own page on the living section of the Sunday paper, and so, there is always hope. Let as many people know, ask them to let people know, and don’t make it look generic, make it personal.

As for the person who stated you cannot get hiv by kissing, well, you also need to get your facts straight. A closed mouth kiss with no saliva is not going to transmit hiv, but, an open mouthed kiss with saliva, should there be ANY blood present in the saliva CAN transmit HIV although not too likely, but it certainly can. Go look it up yourself, and that should not panic anyone, but let’s please not either pass on disinformation,.

Our schools have no business in any way, shape or form, teaching these things. They fail at what they are already supposed to be doing.

If you want a lack of bullying, don’t allow it at recess, at the cafeteria, in the classroom, have penalties and have supervision. Put money into extra personnel and if they ignore bullying and allow it to continue, warn them, if it continues eventually fire them and hire someone who will see to it, that it doesn’t happen under their watch.

Not your oppinion on polotics,or sex. This bulting crap? How about you actually do something like expultion or fines to the parents to discurage it instead of smacking wrists and letting it happen so you don’t need to have these types of presentations for bullying. The reason we teach things like math, english, science, and history at youth is that they are impressionable, and soak up all this information. This is the time to mold them into adults that will make responsible moral decisions that shape our nation. But you are not teaching them that, you are teaching them to become imoral, and entitled, not able to take responsability for any poor actions they make. Not having any ambition to become anything. Is this realy what we want for the future of America?

For those parents who are dealing with their schools “overstepping their boundaries”,and teaching your children something that clearly should be left up to a parent’s discretion. Please look at http://www.parentalrights.org We are in a battle here in the US to retain our parental rights. Does that sound unfathomable? It’s true, and our rights are slowly being infringed on bit by bit as shown in the Red Hook, NY school above. Government schools are not even bothering to apprise parents of controversial information they will be teaching. Unfortunately, public school children are seeing this the most, because they are the easiest to manipulate. Please visit http://www.parentalrights,org and see for yourself what the issues are and how to join the fight to protect our children.

Kathleen….Well said. I too homeschooled my children for the very same reasons and sacrificing certain things to bring to the fore more important things was pretty much standard for those of us in that day. Our 4 children are now between the ages of 29 and 35; with a total of 8 grandchildren, 11 years of age and under. The 6 that are of school age are all homeschooled. It’s heartwarming to see how much the homeschooling effort has taken off and the benefits it has engendered.

Nevermind homeschooling. That really is not the problem. The problem is the idiots running the school who think they cover their base with a sad story like’ teaching them to turn down advances’. They were FORCED to ask for a KISS which is a SEXUAL ACT. What if the kiss was given? It was asked for BY FORCE so the KISS IS BY FORCE. And the school is gong to do nothing?? Idiots! The parents need to sue and I hope they do to dissuade anything like this from every happening again. They need to sue the school, the state, the district and then the actual people who perpetrated this. They need to get everything they can and put their kids through college with it, and donate the rest to PROTECTING THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF CHRISTIANS! If a Bible is not permitted in school then kissing girls shouldn’t be either. Noone is infringing on rights of Homosexuals. The Christians rights are offended everyday and it is high time for everybody to realize that Christians have rights too! FYI

God, public schools suck. I’ve got no problem with gay marriage, but it’s clear that the administrators at this school don’t have any perspective, whatsoever. It’s too bad that the poor don’t have a reasonable option to educate their kids without having an agenda brainwashed into them. And to think, that’s what I used to think was wrong with religious schools. At this point, I have to consider a religious school to be the lesser of two evils.

I emailed the principal of the school about this because I was so disgusted. He is there response which I find untruthful and lacking .

“Just so you know, the report was false it was the date safe initiative lauded by Laura Bush that teaches girls to say “no” to unwanted or inappropriate advances. Look it up online, it is called “May I Kiss You”. It is used by middle and high schools to keep girls safe. Unfortunately, this was inaccurate information that was fed to the press.”

Why would parents make this stuff up? Why would the parents claim there was no opt out? Why would the superindentent be quoted as saying what he did in this article if this is the case. They still had non-professionals , college students, in the classrooms . Why would they have a community meeting about this if it was a non-issue?

I can answer that. One parent posted on facebook that her daughter came home saying she was made to kiss girls. It was spread like wildfire and parents became concerned. Many parents went to the meeting to hear what had happened. Out of over 150 students there are only two parents who are making statements. One of those parents do not even have an 8th grader. Isn’t that odd…

      April 23, 2013 at 8:40 am
      • Catryna White #

Maybe not odd at all. Perhaps the parent has a child getting close to that age and is concerned. Also, as taxpayers our taxes pay for the schools and the salaries of all “our” employees, in the school (teachers, principals, etc). So, as a taxpayer, anyone has the right to have a say in the school system, because the schools belong to everyone.

Catryna, I can agree with that. But the idea that the school forced students to ask for a lesbian kiss is absurd. I can relate that the topic is sensitive for some parents. (topic of sex) but the school really had good intentions here not malice. They school had the meeting and listened to the community and agreed that they would give parents notice in the future. Its really an amazing school district it is sad to see it torn up like this.

Leave your children in school and teach them morals and stand your ground at home. You do do NOT NEED all day HOME SCHOOLING to be involved in this.

You can’t teach them not to kiss another female on the mouth no mater what the group leader directs??

Home schooling is rearing in a hot house–like for plants. When they graduate from high school home schooling then what? They may get good grades from memorizing during home schooling, but what about the rest of life? What about when they have a supervisor at work or a group there that is in charge and does not share the values of the graduate of home schooling?

I’ll bet there were girls in that workshop who had the gumption to say no to their requirement for a homosexual kiss. And I’ll bet they were not home school graduates.

Anybody blaming the schools for ruining their child’s morals ought to BLAME THEMSELVES. IT IS THE JOB OF THE PARENT TO TEACH MORALS, NOT THE SCHOOL. The lazy parents are the Christians who blame the schools.

If you teach your home values to your children, they will repel any suggestion of homosexual kisses or anything else you disapprove of at school or anywhere else.

    From A Buddha GrandMaster:

“Gods’ first target of annihilation would be homosexuals. You know that homosexuals have found legitimacy in that homosexuality was around back in the culture of ancient Greece. Yes, there was a similar phenomenon in ancient Greek culture. And do you know why ancient Greek culture is no more? Why are the ancient Greeks gone? Because they had degenerated to that extent, and so they were destroyed. When gods created man they prescribed standards for human behavior and living.

When human beings overstep those boundaries, they are no longer called human beings, though they still assume the outer appearance of a human. So gods can’t tolerate their exist ence and will destroy them. Do you know why wars, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters happen in this world? They’re precisely because human beings have karma, and those events exist to remove it. No matter how wonderful a time period may be in the future, there will still be wars, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters on earth. They are a way of eliminating karma for people.

Some people who have sinned can have their karma eliminated through the death of the flesh body and suffering, and then they’ll be free of that karma when they reincarnate. Their lives don’t really die and they reincarnate again. But the karma that some people have accrued is too much, in which case the fundamental elements of their existence will be implicated and destroyed. Homosexuals not only violate the standards that gods set for mankind, but also damage human society’s moral code.

In particular, the impression it gives children will turn future societies into something demonic. That’s the issue. That kind of destruction, however, isn’t just about disappearing after they ’re annihilated. That person is annihilat ed layer after layer at a rate that seems pretty rapid to us, but in fact it’s extremely slow in that time field . Over and over again, one is annihilated in an extremely painful way. It’s terribly frightening. A person should live in an upright manner, living h onorably like a human being. He shouldn’t indulge his demon-nature and do whatever he likes.”

Until LOCAL school boards and districts begin to respond to the PARENTS, those for whom they work, the government indoctrination centres will continue to degraade, offend, insult, pervert. First, anyone who actually made it through the entire article and still believed in its validity just wants something to be angry about. It was obviously written with extreme bias and a pure intent on causing trouble. It reads like it was written by some less-than-educated mother who fancies herself a politician.

Second, this isn’t about gays or lesbians. Children shouldn’t be made to kiss each other in school. I actually SERIOUSLY doubt that happened the way it was explained.

Third, there’s no way in hell any college students were “encouraging” 13-14 yr old kids to become sexually active. That would be like saying education about cigarettes or heroin use is actually an encouragement towards addiction.

    April 23, 2013 at 2:07 pm
    • If you bother to read the related articles, you would know this is being widely reported by the mainstream media.

      April 23, 2013 at 2:54 pm

First of all, Heather Clark, if she is who I think she is, is not a mother, but a single woman and a person of integrity who does not make things up with ‘the pure intent to cause trouble’. She is a very educated, highly dedicated, principled career woman.

Second, the new ‘anti-bulling’ school programs ARE about gay acceptance/affirmation. Sadly, it is not enough to tell the students not to bully gays (and others) and to discipline them if they do. The schools seem to feel it is their duty to present the gay lifestyle as normal and even to celebrate it. Students having a belief that the behavior is immoral is what the schools hope to eliminate. So it is tolerance for everyone except for those who hold religious beliefs contrary to what society has now decided to embrace. We must all be taught to think alike…group think. This what these sessions are trying to accomplish…re-education and unlearning the morals taught at home. You are naive if you think it is otherwise. If you don’t want student to bully one another, tell them not to do it, what the consequences will be if they do it, and then carry out those consequences. Simple as that! No need for classes like this one…no need at all if discipline was still enforced in our schools.

Third, ‘there is no way in ‘xxx’ that these college students are encouraging kids to become sexually active’. Well, take a look at what goes on on most college campuses today…lots of alcohol binges and lots of sex. Are you sure you really want college students anywhere near your young teens? I don’t think you are a parent, otherwise, this story would send chills right up your spine at just the thought that it might be true. And….It should.

Idiots…well, time will tell who the real idiots are.

I don’t think it is being pious to feel home schooling is the best option, but each family must make their own decision and not be made to feel inferior or less spiritual for their choice. Those who chose to keep their children in the public schools will have a lot more challenges trying to help them unlearn the bad things they are absorbing there. My heart goes out to all who have school age children at this time in our nation’s history. It is not easy either way. I sent mine to Christian school. I had only two to pay for, but it was still hard. I found ways, though, to earn the money during the day (cleaning houses, companion aide to elderly, pre-school aide) and still be home when the bus pulled up at the end of their school day. The Christian school option is not a perfect one either. Sometimes the influences of the world get in there too, though not as much. It was the best I could do at the time and it was worth every penny. Homeschooling was not an option for me back then. It is still not an option for many who must work just to put food on the table. If you have to send them to the public school, then you must spend lots of time pouring the Word into them and give them a strong foundation that will keep them grounded no matter what the school throws at them. If I had children to raise today, I would try as hard as I could NOT to have them in public schools if at all possible. If I could not find a better option, though, I would work hard to train them in the hours I had with them at home and then entrust them to the Lord’s care and protection. He is able. My heart goes out to all of you were are struggling with these issues. Our children are precious to us and we all want to do the right thing for them. Sometimes we have to do the best we can and leave the outcome in God’s hands. If the gov’t gets its way, homeschooling and even Christian schooling may not be options for us much longer as our constitutional freedoms are now under attack.

It’s a fine line we have drawn and it is cutting into our morals, into our beliefs, and into our lives all for the sake of Political Correctness and the greater good that possibly isn’t that good.

The very schools themselves have for decades deferred any type of activities, risk or result to parents. Eliminating sports programs for their dangers, eliminating certain types of books, eliminating failing or passing so than no student is found wanting.

But now they decide it is perfectly within their agenda to begin indoctrination of students for sex, it’s practice, it’s forms and it’s allure, whether gay or straight, however you see it, it is beyond their perview, and for once it truly is the parents right to say yes or no.

I am a 35 year old husband and father of five. I have been happily married for nearly 12 years now. My mother was divorced when I was 3 years old. She worked full time, usually 10 plus hours a day. She had my aunt teach me and my sister school at home. My sister died in a horse riding accident when she was 14, but I am certain she would have turned out fine also. I am not calling anybody lazy, but if your priority is to train up your children to be anything other than a socialist atheist, then you should not put them in the public school. if you are trying to raise your children to be Christian, then they will only be confused if you put them into a public school. Karl Marx was a Christian and love God, wanting to be a missionary until he went to a secular school which turned him away and now he is known as the father of communism. These “anti-bullying” programs, just like the “diversity” programs, are just a cover for getting the GLTB homosexual indoctrination into the schools.

Thank you! all these nuts are going ape. There is no hidden task to make children gay and this wasn’t a kiddie porn show. You guys are messed up and should really take a good look not just read an article. But I suppose that is exactly what you did with your Bible. I am a Christian but I’m not a nut.

Funny most of them say don’t force your private agenda on my child. Just teach them the way of MY God and the way of MY Bible.

I’ve done home school private school and regular school. They don’t truly matter I will still hAve my own opinion.

Obviously the didnt go “now young girls kisa each other in front of us” and they most certainly didnt go “boys always carry a condom.incase you see.a nice slut”

carrying a condom isnt a problem. Gettimg pregnant at 15 is. Kids are going to have sex

Choose what education works for you. Dont assume home school kids are weird and are Jesus extremist and don’t assume public school kids are corrupt .

Obviously you guys are very simple for thinking all these things are true. You assume that the teachers would call this practice normal?

As for the teachers union it has no evil agenda. It keeps teachers up to date on the best education possible and their pays decent. I would not want a non unionized teaching force. That would very troublesome.

True. But the school should have involved the Parents BEFORE implementing this Program/Course. It’s because the “pinheads” who made the decision to go forward without consulting the Parents first, has everyone (as you say) “going ape”.

This was wrong on so many levels and it completely discredits any educational value regarding “anti-bullying”. When these “pinheads” did this, they really showed that their INTENT was “Agenda Driven”, rather than “Educationally Driven”. It’s pretty clear to me, and to most who have read this article, that the Politics of the Gay Lobby is what makes this so offensive. And their “Politics” is “Crystal Clear”! “Do NOT include the Parents”!

I would also contend that the “Politics” of the Gay Lobby is similar to the “Politics” of the Abortion Lobby and the Condom Distribution Lobby.

Again, the “Politics” of these groups is CRYSTAL CLEAR!

        “Do NOT Include the Parents”!

I agree with you an a number of points. The way I see it, the session wasn’t about anti-bullying. I mean seriously, girls forced to ask another girl for a “lesbian” kiss? How is that about anti-bullying? There is definitely a hidden agenda which is more about not so much tolerating various sexual practices but accepting them. I don’t have to ask a woman for a lesbian kiss to know not bully lesbians. Why are boys given condoms if the agenda was truly about anti-bullying? It’s ok to identify someone as a “slut” but heaven forbid we disagree with someone’s same sex lifestyle. Does anyone see the hypocrisy in that? I teach in the public schools and if I had children of my own I wouldn’t even put them in the best public school available.

I smell a potential lawsuit when I look at the attitude of the attitude of the principal and superintendent. “We may require more notification to parents.” They didn’t give them ANY notification! If I were a parent I’d be so far up these people’s butts they wouldn’t be able to sit down!

And I will close with this. If this were truly about anti-bullying it would not have been necessary to separate the students by gender. If people can’t see through this, they are BLIND!

What ever happened to teaching our children reading, writing, and math? History and science. I completely understand that bullying is a serious, prolific, and heinous thing our middle school children deal with on a daily basis, but this crosses the line especially when the school district does not inform the parents of this type of “bullying” instruction. This does not fall under “bullying” instruction – it falls more under sex ed and really should be left up to the parent and CERTAINLY should not include any “acting out” of scenarios between students. I believe that those who are developing these so-called anti-bullying materials need to take a step back and evaluate what their true purpose is. Is it to promote homosexuality, promiscuity, or is it truly in an effort to prevent bullying? I think the answer here is apparent and parents need to take a stand against this type of hidden agenda. I’m not one of those people who think that frivolous lawsuits are appropriate, however, I think in this case, I would not hesitate to put the hurt on this school district.

One more reason we homeschool….the government thinks it owns our children, and it’s agenda is to take control over them. They will likely succeed, because parents aren’t parenting anymore. They are too busy chasing the dollar, spending more time watching the idiot box or driving their kids to this activity or that one to parent. They let the schools teach the kids everything from counting to morality. And they seem to be failing in the 3R’s, which is what they should be focusing on. Most families can live off one paycheck. We do, and my husband doesn’t make much. It depends on what is actually most important to you. If raising your kids is most important, then you’ll trim corners, you’ll “make-do,” you’ll learn to do without some stuff, but your kids won’t miss it- and they will be better off. If you think you’re not smart enough to teach them, then study with them, and use the Teacher’s manuals- or use PC software that does much of the teaching. We weren’t blessed with children so someone else can raise them, and it’s a lie to say you can’t raise them yourself. Even some single parents that must work are homeschooling. My children know they were created with a purpose, by a loving God. They know sex is for after marriage. They know marriage is for 1 man and 1 woman. They know to work hard for what they want. They help others. They are giving, kind, fun, funny, smart, hard-working and amazing little kids and young adults. Ask one of our girls to kiss another girl and she’ll tell you like it is, our kids stick up for what they believe in, they don’t follow orders if they know those orders are wrong. Teach your kids to think, to stand up for what is right. Love them enough to do that, please.

The issue here has nothing to do with homeschooling, lazy parents, grammar. It has to do with the emotional trauma caused by someone in authority over children and the fact that they require them to do something that is not theirs’ to require…shame on that school system and the teacher, and/or teachers that would teach such lunacy. I do think there would be a much more civil way to teach anti-bullying. All “they” did was “bully” children into doing something they did not want to do. What has been gained?!

I’m confused with what this nasty, uncalled for, presentation or what ever else people want to call it…has to do w/ people choosing to homeschool their children. I think this article is an outrage! i would definately remove my children from such immoral teaching if it happened at their school. This world is so messed up! I think homeschooling is great and not so great for different reasons. I think it’s wonderful if a parent has a chance to homeschool their children. i would love to homeschool my children. The anti-bully mess everyone’s talking about is just blown up. i totally disagree w/ bullying, but I also agree with learning how to handle some things on your own. I have seen ‘real bullying’ go on and nothing be done, but have seen other situations blew way out proportion. I myself was terminated from college for bullying, but I was the one being bullied, but I had enough and said something they called a threat. We all need to grow up. I say our kids are being bullied by teachers(some). We are all being bullied by the government. Where are our rights?

“This story is not completely accurate…”

Can you give us some facts to back that up? How do you know it was not reported accurately? Please present this evidence to us.

If even one student felt uncomfortable/ashamed by what happened in the class, isn’t that cause for concern? And are you not bothered by the fact that parents were completely left out? If it is such a wonderful program, then why weren’t the parents informed as to the content…what the students would be asked to do and why? If there really are misunderstandings (or misrepresentations) about what was presented in the class or about what the children were told to do, that is completely the fault of the school system…. for their failure to inform and involve the parents and not to allow an ‘opt out’ for students who might feel uncomfortable or conflicted. The mandatory nature of the program that is very disturbing to me.

You DO NOT HAVE TO BE A PARENT to show up at school board meetings and demand they change the curriculum! If you pay taxes, you have a right and Obligation to protect children from all the crazy liberals! Furthermore, the reason they get away with indoctrinating innocents into the liberal agenda is because parents and other reasonable citizens are clueless as to what is happening until it’s too late! If you live in a LIBERAL State especially, tell your representatives to change these ludicrous laws, make time to attend school board functions and if possible take other conservatives with you!

They have no right to do this at all if they are worried about bullying in school quit turning your heads when you see it and when a child tells you that they are being picked on don’t tell them just ignore them it does not work. What this principal and head of school did is unacceptable and the teachers if they knew they should have notified the parents behind the backs of these two. I personally would see if I could file a law suit against all for infringing on my rights as a parent and on my beliefs, school is for learning concentrate on helping them get their studies and help those who need extra help. And yes I have seen teachers and principals tell children just ignore or turn their heads and these are the people we have looking after are children sometimes you need to tell them if they can not resolve it you will by going to the homes and deal with it yourself.

My, goodness! After reading this article and most of the questions, I feel there is a lot that needs to be said. First off, as a follower of God, I know in my heart that we are not supposed to be involved in homosexual acts, but as a Christian, I also know that we are not supposed to hurt others who belive a different way, whether it’s with our fists or even with our mouth. People fight about whether homeschooling is right or if public school is right, but here’s an idea, mabey the’re both right. Homeschooling is becoming more popular, because of the things they are teaching in school, and I know mothers who already have two jobs and yet, do whatever it is they can to get their kids homeschooled. This may be good for religious reasons, but there are cases where the parents realy do need help in educating their child, mabey not out of being lazy, although there may be a few, but of the fact they are hard-working. Whether you are homeschooled or not doesn’t effect how smart you will become, what effects that, is how you where taught. In other words, the sorce of this problem was the school’s, for allowing such a thing to take place. Your kids dont get taught to kiss the opposite gender do they? That is because that is what comes naturally, so basicly they are teaching your children something that is unnatural, and could have somewhat of a brainwashing effect on your child’s sexuallity. It is a belife that homosexuality comes from genes, when infact it comes from satin. Even Christians face homosexual wants sometimes, so where do these desires come from? Most might belive it was because they are related to homosexuals, but this is not the case, though it might have some effect on them because growing up around homosexuals, just makes it easier for the devil to tempt you. Here is a simple metaphor: imagine yourself in an auditorium, filled with chairs and the lights are off. Now try walking around…that would be very painful, right? That was how we lived before Christ, but because Christ came and died on the cross for our sins, now those lights are turned on. We nolonger have to walk in darkness, if we would just open our eyes, and though the obsticles would still be there, now that we can see them we can try our best to avoid them. The choice is yours to make…

With all the love in the world for you,
    God’s faithful servant

We must be reminded that our public school system was based upon socialism. John Dewey, the so called founder of modern education was a philospher and a psychologist, and did not know the living God. He endorsed a socialistic form of belief system, not liberty found only in Jesus Christ. So when we criticize the educational system for inappropriate belief systems, and their actions based on secular humanism (do whatever you want that makes you happy, or as the occulists belief “do as thou will”), we are in effect criticiaing a system that never had Jesus and His teachings as their Cornerstone in the first place.

Our educational system was never developed to worship the God of our Bibles…yes, there have been a few moral laws sprinkled in here and there in its teachings (and even unbelievers can be a moral people), but the American educational system is in direct rebellion against God, our Creator.

“NO SEXUAL ACTIVITY DISCUSSION”???? Really? What were the boys instructed to keep a condom in their pockets for? A fashion statement?

The school board needs to get real, and keep their noses out of matters that don’t concern them. If it gets so bad that school girls are approached by lesbians and asked for a kiss, maybe the school board needs to re-educate the gay-lesbian students on proper behavior. I’ve known lesbian women, but have never been “approached” by one. Most of those girls will never face such an awkward situation. If they do, they should have the guidance of their parents to point them in the right direction. Not the carbon copy responses of the school system trying to force tolerance and politically correct behavior down peoples’ throats.

If they had omitted any mention of sexual preference in the discussions, it wouldn’t have been so bad. No one is going to object to their children learning effective ways to “dodge” unwanted affection. But they had to bring homosexuality into the discussion, because they have a tolerance agenda. Try as they might, they will not be able to convince all people to accept homosexuality as a normal activity. So, they need to stop trying.

As for the “slut” issue…… That’s actually teaching young boys to look for permiscuous behavior in girls. (Something most teen boys would love to find, anyway.) But at no time should a young man EVER be taught to recognize a girl/woman as a SLUT. And it would appear that the school wasn’t concerned with instructing the boys on how to say “NO” to advances from such a girl.

Seems to me that the old “Just say NO” rule is the best one to teach. If kids learn to say that, and are taught how to be assertive in decling such advances, then there’d be a lot fewer sexually related issues at school. But instead of that, the schools want to teach the specific behaviors. That’s bull.

Schools should not be permitted to give any sexual or relationship instructions beyond the basic reproductive lessons that a maturing person needs to know. They need to know the technical terms for the different body parts, and what they can expect to happen to their own bodies. It would also be good for them to know a bit about the functions and hormonal changes of the opposite sex. And that it’s better to abstain from sex, than to engage in it simply out of curiousity. They should also be taught about domestic abuse. That’s where the schools should leave it. And IF a student comes to a teacher for more info (which is available in most libraries…. you know, where they keep the books,) then the teacher should arrange a meeting with the student & parent, or advise the student to discuss the issue more thorooughly with a responsible adult at home or church.

Instead, they’re being “educated” in birth control, abortions, homosexuality, recognizing “sluts”, and issues that many will not need to know before they are adults, if then. And they are being taught that it’s ok to have sex. Parents don’t want this taught to their kids. Let them be kids, before pushing them out into the should-be-adult world of sexual relationships. Teach them helpful stuff, like not taking provacative pictures of themselves and posting them online, just to feel wanted and popular. But leave the relationship messages for them to learn from their parents, clergy, or just come into it in the natural process of growing.

The problem is quite obvious from the story itself. The sessions were supposed to be about bullying and self-respect. The school board and the people involved said they were largely focused on this. But what did the children take home? Inappropriate references to sex and sexuality. Clearly no-one involved in planning these sessions remembered what it’s like to be a child. Which ought to disqualify them from planning these things.
